Signs of life

With a sense of wonder, I wandered like an explorer through the vast fields of the Groningen countryside during the coronavirus pandemic. Farms without neighbors, fields you can't see the end of, and cloudy skies dominating the landscape—it gave me, as a city dweller, an unfamiliar feeling. I felt like a stranger in my own province, an experience in which I saw both a sense of loneliness and freedom.
